The Implications of selecting a NoSQL rather than a relational database
“Nowadays, more and more data are created every day. To process time-series data in real time, many organizations are looking beyond the traditional data warehouse solutions and into emerging big-data technologies such as open source Map-Reduce frameworks or no-SQL databases.” 
The Internet has resulted in the creation of massive quantities of data. The scale of data produced has resulted in a re-evaluation of traditional data persistence approaches. Where once a relational model was the default selection for the implementation of a persistence tier, issues such as scalability, processing time and hardware utilisation have led to a potential re-evaluation of approach.
Create a report (1800-2000) which; explains the traditional dominance of the relational DB model, explains the evolution of NoSQL based approaches, compares relational and NOSQL DB models, compares NOSQL models (key value pair stores, document oriented data stores etc.), explains the applicability of a NOSQL approach to different types of deployments in particular Internet of Things (IoT) and telecommunication deployments.
Your report should consist of the following major sections:
Background – Why has the relational model been so dominant? Why have NoSQL models evolved? What are the implications of using a NOSQL rather than a relational database model?
Comparing NOSQL approaches – With reference to Burtica et.al’s article “Practical application and evaluation of no-SQL databases in Cloud Computing”  compare the applicability of variant NOSQL approaches; key value pair stores, document oriented data stores, BigTable clones, Graph Databases in a telecommunications context.
Business Requirements and Deployment– With reference to Rautmare et.al’s article “MySQL and NoSQL database comparison for IoT application”  discuss the implications of business requirements and deployment on database selection policy e.g. a large banking system versus a small IoT application. How do the characteristics of the data impact on this choice, e.g. internet data versus bank data?
