1. When researchers conduct a study, they proceed through a distinct set of steps. These steps provide the foundation for educational research. Examine and apply the six steps in the process of research to a topic of your choice. You will not conduct this research but will use the steps to design a research process for your selected topic. Make sure to reflect on each step of the research process. 2. Based on the nature of the research problem and the questions that will be asked, the researcher chooses either the quantitative or the qualitative research track. Analyze the major characteristics of quantitative and qualitative research. Further, analyze the similarities and differences between the two. Include examples of research that would necessitate either a quantitative or a qualitative research. 3. Research designs are the specific procedures involved in the research process: data collection, data analysis, and report writing. Educational researchers use eight main research designs when conducting qualitative, quantitative or combined quantitative/qualitative research. Examine these eight research designs, provide an example for each, and differentiate among them. 4. Study the five aspects of the statement of the problem section as presented in your text. For your essay, apply the five aspects by composing a statement of the problem for a research problem of your choosing.
