PSYC 3160 Learning Difficulties and Disabilities – Poster Assignment – Section 1 (Tuesdays)

Choose an exceptionality from the course/textbook – this cannot be the same exceptionality that you choose as part of your case study assignment.
Poster must be presented on 11 x 17” paper – you may hand-write this poster and/or create graphics/text on computer to be pasted on to the paper – be creative.
Poster is marked for content and style.
Content: Diagnosis/Symptoms/Characteristics (of chosen exceptionality), Assessment, Intervention, Role of, or impact on, Parents and Family of person with exceptionality.
Style: Layout of poster, formatting according to APA (i.e., in-text citations).
A 2-page handout that describes the poster with academic references to support the information contained in the poster.
Be prepared to be peer-reviewed – students will assess your poster for content and style on likert scales – and, therefore, be prepared to answer questions and verbally describe your poster.
Poster assignment to be assessed according to the following:
5% for the 2-page handout.
5% for completing 10 peer-review handouts (two likert scales: One for content, one for style; and providing rationale for your ratings).
2% for peers’ ratings (averaged across the ratings obtained for your poster).
8% for instructors’ ratings (from peer-review handout).

Approximately half of the class will present their poster during the first poster session (February 6th) and approximately half of the class will present their poster during the second poster session (March 13th).
We have midterms on those two days, and these will take up to 70 minutes. You will have a break before setting up the posters and presenting for approximately an hour.
Reviewers will circulate the room to interact with presenters and will complete the 10 handouts (for 10 different presenters).
